Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is the Jacksonville Public Education Fund?
The Jacksonville Public Education Fund is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the demand for excellent public schools. Through collaboration with the community and Duval County Public Schools, we envision a future when all students graduate ready for college and the workforce. We achieve our goals through three core strategies: research, community mobilization and advocacy. For more information about who we are and what we do, visit our homepage.
  2. How is this site affiliated with Duval County Public Schools?

School Facts Jax is an independent service provided by the Jacksonville Public Education Fund (JPEF), using publicly available data published by the Florida Department of Education.  School Facts Jax is not formally affiliated with Duval County Public Schools (DCPS) and, though JPEF and DCPS maintain cooperative efforts to make sure all information presented in School Facts Jax is as aligned with current DCPS records as possible, reports accessed here should not be considered official district publications.

For officially published DCPS performance reports, visit the DCPS Office of Instructional Research and Accountability.

  3. What is the purpose of School Facts Jax?
School Facts Jax allows parents and other community members to view and compare data from specific districts and schools in an easy to understand, interactive visual format.
  4. Where does the data on this website come from?
All data reported in School Facts Jax comes directly from publicly-available datasets produced by the Florida Department of Education, and is updated as regularly as updates are released. For links to specific source datasets, see “Source” credits listed on each page or the links listed under the “FLDOE Data and Research Resources” heading in our Resources tab.
  5. How do I find what school my address is zoned for?
To find out what school you are zoned for, simply enter your address in the School Locator on the DCPS website. To see what other schools are near you, you can also use the interactive school grades map and type your zip code into the “Search by Zip Code” box to see more schools in your area.
  6. Why is some information missing from some school profile pages?
This could happen for a number of reasons. In some cases, certain measures of performance are not reported because that school does not receive an accountability grade (for example, dedicated ESE centers and schools operated by the Department of Juvenile Justice do not typically receive school grades). In other cases, data for certain measures may be withheld because there were too few students in a reporting group at a school to make it eligible to report on. In the case of newer schools, current or prior year information may not be available depending on how recently the school opened.
  7. I'm having trouble using the website or have noticed some information that needs to be updated, who should I contact?
